Luxury Watches That Are True Works of Art

What is art? Centuries ago, art was inextricably linked to such disciplines as arithmetic, geometry, rhetoric, dialectics, astronomy, grammar, and music. A lot has changed since then, including our perception of art. Today, art is a diverse range of human activities aimed at producing something for the aesthetic value. These include sculpture, painting, poetry, film, theater, performing arts, street art, architecture, music, and many more. Fine watchmaking can be called an art too, and for a good reason: luxury watches are created not only to tell the time but also to be appreciated for their beauty and intricate design. There are even special museums dedicated to the art of watchmaking. So, let’s take a closer look at some stunning examples of fine watches with original designs.

Richard Mille RM 68-01 Tourbillon Cyril Kongo
The RM 68-01 Tourbillon Cyril Kongo created by Richard Mille in collaboration with the street artist Cyril Kongo is really a ‘work of art for the wrist.’ In this limited edition model, almost everything, from the complicated tourbillon movement to the dial and external elements, is hand-painted by the artist in his unique graffiti style.

As you can see, the dial of this colorful luxury watch features Fantone’s original painting inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
