Chopard Group has recently presented truly exceptional high-end luxury watches for men released under the Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud brand. These new models of watches are inspired by the remarkable marine clocks created by the tireless researcher and exceptional horologist who was granted the title of “Master Clockmaker” in 1753. Ferdinand Berthoud, the famous chronometer-maker and founder of the Ferdinand Berthoud House, was born in the Val-de-Travers, Switzerland in 1727. This master horologist left an indelible imprint on the history of fine watchmaking through his outstanding mechanical talents and inventiveness. For this reason, co-president of Chopard, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, has decided to revive the illustrious name of Ferdinand Berthoud by establishing the Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud Company.
The new luxury watch brand will offer only exclusive designer watches issued in extremely limited editions. Thus, its new Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1 model powered by an original hand-winding mechanical movement with more than 1,120 parts is available in two versions. The first one comes in an 18k white gold case with titanium inter-horn space, and the second one – in an 18k rose gold case with black ceramic inter-horn space. Each of them features a skilfully-made tourbillon visible at the 6 o’clock position. This unique luxury watch model presented on a hand-sewn rolled-edge alligator leather strap is a limited edition of 2 times 50 copies (for each edition).
