Since its very foundation in 1791, Girard-Perregaux has been famous for its extremely accurate high-end watches. This year, the renowned Manufacture takes another step towards perfection by launching two amazing models of luxury chronograph watches with automatic winding. The Circuito and Stradale introduced at Baselworld 2016 belong to the new Sport Competizione collection inspired by automobile racing. Both of these beautiful timepieces clearly express Girard-Perregaux passion for excellence and desire to give Swiss watch lovers a great opportunity to find their rightful place in our constantly moving world.
Girard-Perregaux started its production of luxury chronograph watches right after the emergence of this unique complication in the 19th century. Vintage chronograph watches offered for sale at that time were represented by sophisticated pocket models powered by precise movements with split-second function and some other complications. First Girard-Perregaux chronograph wrist watches appeared in the 1920s marked the beginning of a new era. These timepieces renowned for their robustness and reliability were originally intended to meet the needs of engineers. However, in the 1960s, Girard-Perregaux chronographs able to measure individual performances became more sporty thanks to motorcyclists and rally drivers who wore them with great pleasure. This year, Girard-Perregaux once again pays tribute to these historical luxury chronograph watches by launching the Sport Competizione collection dedicated to the exciting world of automobiles and speed.
Girard-Perregaux Competizione Circuito Chronograph
This luxury watch with chronograph from the Sport Competizione collection harmoniously combines the avant-garde style and fine watchmaking tradition. Its 42mm innovative case is made of high-tech carbon and titanium composite that is four times lighter than titanium and eight times lighter than steel. The “honeycomb” see-through dial with red accents reminds us of the racing car air inlets and radiator grilles adding a confident, sporty chic to the overall look of the model. This luxury watch is powered by an in-house self-winding movement with 63 jewels that ensures minimum 46 hours of power reserve. The model is presented on a carbon-effect calfskin strap with a DLC-coated stainless steel folding buckle.
Girard-Perregaux Competizione Stradale Chronograph
The Stradale has a timeless sporty look inspired by the golden age of Girard-Perregaux chronograph wrist watches, in particular, the famous Club Italia model. Its 42mm stainless steel case with so-called “Mushroom” push-pieces and elongated lugs is water-resistant up to the depth of 30 meters. In general, this classic model is distinguished by a very proportionate design with a beautiful black or silvered dial. Its subtly sunken and delicately snailed chrono counters perfectly complement a long central sweep seconds hand created in bright red color. This luxury watch with chronograph is equipped with an in-house automatic movement comprised of 435 parts including 63 jewels. It is available on a stainless steel bracelet or brown alligator leather strap closed by a steel folding buckle. Each of these models is a worthy representative of best chronograph watches ever presented by Girard-Perregaux!
