Luxury Watch Brands Shine at Baselworld 2014

Baselworld, the definitive showcase for luxury watch brands, returns on March 27. The larger of the two annual Swiss watch trade shows, Baselworld is far better attended and more closely followed than its younger sibling, January’s “Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie” (SIHH).

In contrast to the intimate scale of SIHH, Baselworld’s singular scope exhausts one’s reserve of superlatives. Basel features over 1,400 exhibitors rather than SIHH’s 16; Basel welcomes an average of over 120,000 visitors compared to SIHH’s 12,000; Basel’s sprawling labyrinth of luxury watch brands consumes over 140,000 square feet of floor space compared to only 33,000 at SIHH.

Every part of the Baselworld show represents the ultimate. For the luxury watch brands of “haute horolgerie,” Basel is the Super Bowl.
